Release notes

A default install upgrades with no values change and applies no database migrations. Toolkit parameters that silently swapped a null input for a fixed default now reject null outright, and new gateways created without an explicit tool-discovery setting pick up your project's existing tool-recommendation setting instead of defaulting off. Read the Upgrade notes before upgrading if any integration sends null for optional toolkit parameters.

Database migrations

None. This release applies no schema changes.

Security

  • Condex's Postgres connection now honors DB_SSL_MODE even when DATABASE_URL carries no sslmode of its own, including a mode supplied through condex.extraEnvFrom. When the two disagree, Condex refuses to start instead of silently picking one. This is a deliberate exception to the chart's usual promise that an upgrade doesn't change behavior without a value change: an install that already passed the mode through an env group will see that mode take effect for the first time. Applies only where discovery.enabled is set.

Changed

  • The engine sends its tool-selection lookups to Condex concurrently instead of one at a time, bounded by a new setting (default 4 at once). Set it to 1 to restore the previous one-at-a-time behavior.
  • /v1/formatted_tools's OpenAI, Anthropic and MCP response formats page the tool list before rendering it instead of after, which reduces latency on large catalogs. The items, order, and pagination fields returned are unchanged.
  • An omitted country code on the Google News toolkit now always sends an explicit default country to the upstream provider instead of leaving the parameter out.
  • See Upgrade notes for the new-gateway tool-discovery default and the toolkit null-parameter changes.

Fixed

  • A toolkit configuration environment variable with a documented fallback no longer gets stuck on an empty value: a variable that is present but set to an empty string now falls back to the toolkit's documented default, instead of sending the empty value upstream or, for some toolkits, failing to load at all.
  • Outlook Mail's reply tools describe their reply-type choices using the values the tool actually accepts, instead of displaying internal names the tool would reject if sent back as-is.

Operator impact

  • A new engine setting bounds how many tool-selection lookups go to Condex at once (default 4); set it to 1 for the previous one-at-a-time behavior.
  • Projects with tool recommendation and discovery enabled will see new gateways created without an explicit setting default to discovery on; existing gateways are unaffected.
  • Review integrations that send null for optional toolkit parameters against current tool schemas before upgrading.

API & behavior

  • Toolkit parameters that used to accept null as a stand-in for a fixed default now reject null and require the value itself.
  • An omitted Google News country code now resolves to an explicit default (us unless configured otherwise) instead of being left out of the upstream request.
  • A gateway-creation request that omits its tool-discovery setting now inherits the project's tool-recommendation default instead of always starting off.
